Responsible autonomy

While its offices enjoy significant autonomy, the lift solution provider still requires primary processes to be simple, straightforward, and streamlined. That’s essential for, e.g., measuring and comparing KPIs and standardizing financial reporting and accountability. However, standardization and streamlining were no easy task, given the company’s explosive growth. Not only had the groups current companies expanded, but they also acquired new businesses. Unsurprisingly, each already had – to some degree– their own business practices.  

Global rollout of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 

The group’s initial ERP environment proved too clumsy to achieve the streamlined processes that the lift solution provider had in mind. Whats more, the front office lacked a clear overview of the full customer journey. Ultimately, they urgently needed a single efficient IT platform to support the full range of services of the lift solution provider – lift development, installation, maintenance, and service – across its locations. In the Netherlands, Conclusion MBS was already the go-to service provider for the companys predecessor and had also been co-researching the prospective new ERP system. Their research and related recommendations were what prompted the lift manufacturer to hire Conclusion MBS for the international rollout of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

This ERP platform was the best match for the company’s transformation objectives; plus, it’s future-ready and growth-friendly. Business Central is also cloud-based, giving employees simultaneous access to data and applications on all sites. And that radically simplifies maintenance and management; everyone always has access to the latest version. Finally, this platform offers the ultimate in scalability.

Compliant with local laws and regulations 

“Despite aiming to streamline the client’s business practices through the rollout, there’s still ample opportunity to set up processes that ensure compliance with local requirements,” says Conclusion MBS Solution Architect Remco Tas. “That way, we take local laws and regulations into account at their various country offices.” Tas describes a fascinating journey, with the Swedish parent company setting the course while allowing the unique cultures of its subsidiaries to flourish. Conclusion MBS developed a universal template for the various national sites in which approximately 70% of the Business Central environment is fixed. You could see this as the “main environment” or hub. 

The form and content of the remaining 30 percent are co-created by the national offices. “Those workshops could occasionally get heated because everyone was still convinced their way of working was best. On the other hand, the local teams were also fiercely dedicated. They had resolved to make Business Central a collective success. Looking back, we learned a lot from that journey. We cut through the complexity of dozens of IT solutions and transformed them into a single environment that serves the whole.”

And that strategy has given us a great partnership with the headquarters and the company’s various national offices. Now, the lift solution provider has a single solution for the whole international business, streamlining how everyone works.

Another boon, according to Sales Manager Wilbert Dirven, was Conclusion MBS’ intimate and extensive knowledge of the company and the sector. “We take pretty deep dives and learn the business processes inside and out. For instance, the company now benefits from standardized processes on every site, more efficient support operations, and, above all, a more manageable system. The full customer journey is clear from end to end. Across the group, the drive to exchange information and learn has grown exponentially. And standardization has granted the group access to better, more up-to-date control information. “Lastly, it bears mentioning that we invested significant time in change management. That was instrumental to the implementation’s success. Employees need to be properly introduced to a new working method, which is why Conclusion MBS made it an integral aspect of their project strategy. We genuinely helped the international lift solution provider leap forward, and I couldn’t be prouder,” Dirven concludes.
