From student to IT professional

The building you cycle past on your way to university almost every day. And starting your first IT job there after completing your studies. That's the story of Kasper (27) who has enjoyed working as a Mendix consultant at Conclusion Low Code Company since February 2023. ‘I passed the Conclusion building every day, but never knew exactly what they did. Until I met someone who worked there. Consequently, when I started looking for a job after graduation, this company was already in the back of my mind. I decided to look them up on LinkedIn and the rest is history.

Immediately a good click

"After I started following Conclusion on LinkedIn, I soon received a message from our recruiter. And the rest of the application process also went smoothly. My education is very much in line with my current work and in my spare time I had already developed software applications. I was able to demonstrate that I was suitable for the job and immediately gained the trust of Conclusion. During my first meeting with the company, I already noticed that there was a relaxed atmosphere that I experienced as very pleasant. There was an immediate click and I was able to get started almost immediately."

A nice assignment during the training period

"On my first day, I received a backpack with a laptop and all kinds of nice gadgets. In that backpack was also a document with a clear step-by-step plan of what I would do in the first few weeks. During the training period, you will receive a lot of support in several areas. This ensured that my laptop and accounts worked and that I was signed up for everything within the company. I was also assigned a buddy who warmly welcomed me on the first day and who I could turn to with all my questions. In addition, there is an HR coach who supports you in this area and a technical coach who helps you with your technical questions. You also draw up a development plan with the coach. Soon I was able to start following various training courses to further develop my technical skills. Even after the training period, you are encouraged to keep asking questions. You can always turn to your colleagues for help and advice.

What I found very special was that I was asked for an internal project after only 1.5 weeks. I was asked to create a new functionality for the application we use to reserve rooms. I had to make sure that we could also reserve parts of the day instead of just full days. In the beginning I didn't know how to go about it, but I succeeded! I am proud that after only 1.5 weeks I was able to really contribute to an application that is used by colleagues every day."

Even after the training period, you are encouraged to keep asking questions.

A combination of business, IT and consulting

"Conclusion Low Code Company is one of Conclusion's smaller companies. We do software development using a low-code platform called Mendix. This is a relatively new technology that allows you to develop software much faster through visual programming than with traditional technology.

Our customers sometimes ask us if we can temporarily supply developers to their company. Or they ask if we can help solve a certain problem. We do this on a project basis where we provide the developers, project management and the final low-code application. Because I work with Mendix, I don't spend 40 hours a week 'cramming codes.' The intention of this platform is to reduce the distance between the business and the technology and I notice that enormously in my work. In addition to developing, I often talk to customers about their wishes. It is important that I find out the actual question behind the question. I then provide the customer with advice on the best and most realistic solution. This makes the position technical and social at the same time. The fact that I can combine business, IT and consultancy is really the best of both worlds.

In addition to hard work, there is also plenty of time for relaxation and getting to know your colleagues better. On our floor we have a game room with table tennis table, dartboard and VR glasses, so that we can blow off steam during the day. Regular sports activities are also organized that I like to participate in."

Ambition

"I have already worked for several clients. This ranges from a car importer to a technology distribution company. And from large customers in transport to various municipalities. Every customer is different and that makes the work extremely varied. One project I'm particularly proud of is one where I worked as part of a DevOps team on the development of a security platform. This was a technically very complex challenge, partly due to the enormous amount of data that had to be processed and the many dependencies on other systems. Despite these challenges, we still managed to achieve a beautiful end result.

I look back on a first year in which I learned a lot. On a technical level, but also on a personal level and in the field of consulting. The trust I received from Conclusion Low Code Company to work on various projects has increased my self-confidence. And in the field of consulting, I am now better and faster at finding out the client's wishes and making sure that everyone is on the same page. I would like to continue to develop myself in the coming years. My ambitions reach to the top. Ultimately, I would like to grow into the role of software architect. Fortunately, Conclusion Low Code Company offers enough time, space and opportunities to follow education and training, so that I can continue to actively work on my career goals."
