From organizing events to looking for talents: Fleur's internship experience

Our intern Fleur works in the HR & recruitment department. She is a 3rd-year student at InHolland University of Applied Sciences, majoring in Business Studies and HRM. Prior to this study, she did Secondary Hotel School. The combination of HR, communication and events in the internship vacancy immediately appealed to her. And now she knows, her first feeling was right. She's right in the right place!

"The transition from school to the office took some getting used to, but fortunately I was received very openly. I was also immediately included in everything, so I quickly got to know the organization. Now, after three months of internship, it all feels very familiar."

In week one at a trade show

"In my first week of internship, I was immediately at a trade fair, the Business Days Twente. Together with my internship supervisor Paula and colleagues from other Conclusion companies. Of course, visitors expect you to have something to say. It was a quick way for me to get to know the company quickly. Listening, watching and then taking over and doing it yourself. That suits me well."

What do you do during your internship?

"I have been able to organize many events for study associations, often at our office in Utrecht. Students can then get to know Conclusion in a fun way. I'm really in the lead and that's super fun. From thinking along, scheduling meetings with participating Conclusion companies and the study association to making a script. But also provide a list of attendees, snacks and drinks and people for behind the bar."

"Which event has stuck with me? Our Intern event for all interns here at Conclusion. I then arranged an Ask me Anything session with Emiel, our CFO. Our interns were allowed to ask him all kinds of questions! To conclude, I arranged a VR experience. After the Intern event, we visit each other more often as interns."

I get a lot of trust and responsibility. And my internship supervisor is always there if I run into something. Very nice!

New interns

"Now that the events are over, I'm focusing on recruiting new interns. I have interviews with hiring managers, draft vacancy texts and post them on our website. And then comes getting to know the candidate. The first few times it's really exciting. Paula listened in, gave me tips and then let me go. She has confidence in me and that's nice! I tell from my own experience. And I like to put people at ease. That makes such an interview very accessible for a candidate."

Soft-skills research

"In addition to my day-to-day work, I also set up an internal investigation. Conclusion is currently considering a soft-skill programme especially for young professionals within Conclusion. I researched where the needs of this young target group actually lie. Very interesting to work on! This topic touches on learning & development, an area I would like to delve into further. I participated in meetings with external parties, brainstormed a lot with Paula and conducted theoretical research. Now that my internship is almost coming to an end, I am entering the final phase. I am very curious about the results and especially hope that the results will be applied internally."

The team and the atmosphere

"What do I like about my internship? The trust and responsibility I get. And my internship supervisor Paula is always there when I run into something! The pleasant atmosphere and open culture within Conclusion make it complete. It's a shame that I won't be seeing the new interns anymore because my internship will be over, but I'm sure they'll have a great time!"
