The best start for my traineeship

Raoul had not finished learning after the MBO IT network administrator course. But the shop floor pulled. He opted for the dual degree programme in ICT, Cyber Security and Cloud at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. The ideal combination of 1 day at school and 3 days at Conclusion Mission Critical. "The choice for this traineeship was quickly made. They were at the job fair of the University of Applied Sciences. We hit it off right away. I was then able to join them for a day and that welcome was so warm that I stayed."

"What I didn't expect is that the company is so big. Not only in terms of company size, but also the impact we make. I work at the operating center. Here we monitor and manage all critical services and processes of organisations at the heart of society. I work for the public transport domain. With our work, we ensure that all IT systems are always available. Malfunctions in the IT systems are dealt with by us. Together with my direct colleagues, we solve these malfunctions or bring in other colleagues to solve the malfunction. Sometimes it also happens that we have to call in other parties. Solving the problem and informing the customer about the solution, that's the best part."

"The operating center is the place to learn to think in terms of solutions. Under time pressure. A good place to start with this traineeship. It's fascinating to work in such a large system with all those applications. We're here 24/7.  In a shift I work together with 3 colleagues for public transport. And we really do it together. That's nice. I enjoy going to work every day. And during the breaks, we can't stop talking about Formula 1 or football. It's a really nice working atmosphere where I feel at home."

Here you really work in a team, we do the work together. Very special.

"The combination of working and learning is challenging. In addition to your work, you will take a block subject at school and there is the preparation of lessons. Plus the reporting. All at a fast pace. You have to learn to plan well. And weigh up: what is important and what is not? Conclusion is highly involved. If I don't understand things, my colleagues take the time to explain it to me. Together with my supervisor Sander, I evaluate the professional tasks and discuss the progress of my learning curve. But I also speak to him every week in the workplace. Then he comes to ask how I'm doing as a person. You are seen here, that personal attention is nice. When the work is done here in the operating center, my first semester will also be over. In the second semester, the second half of the school year, I will work in 1 of the solution groups. Then I go to Infra-Network for the more specialist work. I'm really looking forward to this too."
